Obituary: Prudence Girgenti

Prudence "Prudy" Girgenti is survived by a son, a daughter-in-law and a grandson.

A 94-year-old Woodbridge woman passed away on Friday.

According to her obituary on the website of Flynn and son funeral homes, Prudence Girgenti, or "Prudy" passed away on Friday, October 11, 2013 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy.

She was born in Carlstadt to the late Antonina and Vito Cataldo and lived in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn before marrying and relocating to Flushing, NY, according to her obituary.

She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Girgenti in 1990; two sisters, Concetta Falcone and Frances Polizzi; two brothers, Angelo and Peter Cataldo along with numerous nieces and nephews, according to the obituary.

Surviving are her son Anthony Girgenti of Fords, a past Grand Knight at Our Lady of Peace Knights of Columbus - Council #9199; Daughter-in-law Denise S. Girgenti; and beloved grandson Joseph Girgenti, who is a volunteer firefighter and 911 police dispatcher, the obituary said.

Services were held on Tuesday morning at the funeral home and Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords, followed by interment at Mount St. Mary's cemetery in Flushing, according to the obituary.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to Choteau Elementary School, 102 7th Ave., NW, Choteau, MT, 59422 – Attn: Principal Gameon.
