Jerry De Maio passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 74 years old.
He was born in and was a lifelong resident of Woodbridge.
De Maio was employed as a pipefitter through UA Local #9 of the
Plumber, Pipefitters & HVAC/R Service Technicians Union for 35
years, the last 21 years of which he was employed through the Union with
the Woodbridge Township Board of Education. He retired from the Union
in 2000. From 1979 he was a licensed realtor associate with J.J. Elek
Realty in Woodbridge. He has spent the last number of years helping his
son and daughter in-law build the "Team DeMaio" brand that you can see
all over Woodbridge.
He was a communicant of Saint James
Catholic Church in Woodbridge; a member of Middlesex Council 857,
Knights of Columbus in Woodbridge; and gave many years of service as a
coach with Woodbridge Little League.
Surviving are his wife of
47 years, Michele McIntyre De Maio; and a son, Jerry De Maio and his
wife, Fayella; a sister Christine Mellas; and a beloved Aunt Florence
Zega. He was predeceased by his father Rafael DeMaio, his mother Rose
Zega DeMaio; and a sister, Norma Barrett; and two brothers, Patsy and
Joey De Maio.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 9:45 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (www.costello-greiner.com),
44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge. A Funeral Liturgy will
follow at 10:30 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge.
Interment will be in Saint James Cemetery, Woodbridge. Visitation will
be on Monday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the
funeral home. From 4:00-7:00 p.m. all are invited for refreshments at
the 2nd floor conference room at J.J. Elek, 117 Main Street, Woodbridge
(plenty of parking in the back). Tuesday after the burial all are
welcome to lunch at Chris Michael Restaurant in Woodbridge. Flowers
