Obituary: Elsie T. Hasselbrink, 83

The Woodbridge resident was a secretary at the Star-Ledger.


Woodbridge resident Elsie T. Hasselbrink died on Friday, May 25, at her home. She was 83 years old. 

Born in Elizabeth, she resided there before moving to  in 1955. 

Mrs. Hasselbrink had worked as a secretary with the Newark Star Ledger many years ago. She was a communicant of  in Woodbridge. 

Mrs. Hasselbrink was predeceased by her husband, Edward A. Hasselbrink, in 2010; her parents, Elsie and John Michael Kirk, Sr.; and a sister, Rita Lindmar. 

Surviving are four sons, Edward Hasselbrink, of Marina Del Ray, CA, Kevin Hasselbrink, of South Amboy, Dean Hasselbrink, of Laurence Harbor, and Glenn Hasselbrink, of Woodbridge; a sister, Helen Dibella, of Rahway; a brother, John Michael Kirk, Jr., of Maplewood; eleven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. 

Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, May 29, at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home at 44 Green Street from 2 pm to 4 pm, and from 7 pm to 9 pm.

Funeral services will held on Wednesday, May 30 at 9:30 am from the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, followed by a funeral liturgy at 10 am at Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge. Entombment will be in Saint James Chapel Mausoleum, Woodbridge.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association (diabetes.org), American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
