Lovely Babbling Brook Open for Tours This Saturday

The gardens of gorgeous Colonia home are open to public view as part of the annual Garden Conservancy tour.


Stop by , and you'll have to blink twice to remember you're still in Woodbridge. The gorgeous home, surrounded by well maintained and sumptuous gardens, will be open to the public on Saturday, April 21, as part of the Garden Conservancy.

The home, owned for generations by the Zirpolo family and located at 335 New Dover Road in the Colonia section of the township, will throw open its gates to visitors from 12 noon to 4 pm, rain or shine.

Admission is $5.

The Babbling Brook tour is half of the gardens of two homes especially chosen for the Garden Conservancy's Open Days program. The $5 admission fee also entitles visitors to entry to the Silas Mountsier gardens in Nutley, held the same day from 10 am to 4 pm.

The Babbling Brook tour is self guided. Visitors will discover a brook, two ponds, specimen trees, a greenhouse, and perennial borders, all adjacent to the fairways of the .

Babbling Brook will also be on display again later this year on September 8, along with the gardens of other homes. The Garden Conservancy created the program in 1995 to open up private gardens to the public, to show off the best examples of American horticulture, and to encourage gardening among Americans.
