Woodbridge Homeowners Seek Sandy Recovery Help

A Woodbridge couple is attempting to raise $50,000 to repair their badly damaged home.

Despite Hurricane Sandy happening more than a year ago, one Woodbridge family is still struggling to repair their badly damaged home.

Jason Crea of Woodbridge has set up a fundraising site on GoFundMe.com, a website that allows people to set up campaigns to raise money for a number of projects and causes.

"Help Fix Our Home Destroyed by Sandy" aims to raise $50,000 for repairs to Crea's damaged home. Currently, it has raised $505, according to the website.

"FEMA will not help us because we have insurance and insurance is low balling us to the point we need to reach out for help, which I honestly hate doing," Crea said, on his GoFundMe page.Β "We are going to clear out much of our savings just to rebuild at this point and we are looking for some help to raise money for the cost to demolish the home and raise it so we don't have to pay upwards of 9k a year for flood insurance."
