"Because I'm Worth It!" Teen Outreach Event

The Diocese of Metuchen is sponsoring an outreach program promoting chastity for teens who attend Catholic school or religious education programs in the diocese as well as for members of local youth group organizations. Titled “Because I’m Worth It!,” the 3 hour program will be offered at two different locations on March 22, 2011.  (See list below.)   It is designed for mature 8th grade students, as the subject matter is considered PG-13.  High school students will serve as peer mentors for attendees.

Presenting the program will be Pam Stenzel, an internationally renowned communicator who speaks in person to over 500,000 young people each year about issues of sexuality and the importance of abstinence. In her talks, Stenzel combines her personal story and extensive pregnancy counseling experience into a hard hitting look at the consequences of sexual activity outside of God's design for sex, which is marriage. She tackles today’s tough issues of sex with candor, insight, humor, and the challenge for young people to get the abstinence advantage.  Her videos are viewed by millions worldwide, including the award-winning video “Sex Has a Price Tag.”

The morning session will take place at St. Helena School, 930 Grove Avenue, Edison, NJ from 9:00am - 12:15pm.  The evening session will take place at St. Joseph High School, 145 Plainfield Avenue, Metuchen, NJ from 7:00pm - 8:30pm.   Admission to attend these session is $10 for Catholic School students / $8 for Religious Education students.  For more information, please call  (732) 562-1990 ext. 1629 or ext. 1543 or visit www.diometuchen.org.
