Whatever It Takes - VOTE!

Restore an America We Can Believe In and leave to our children. Whatever it takes – VOTE!

I hope this posting finds you safe and warm, though I know that many of us are still suffering from the impact of Sandy. I know this has been an extremely stressful and challenging time for everyone and that most of us have been fully engaged in trying to cope with this massive storm in terms of its impact on our own lives, and the lives of our family, friends, neighbors and community.

It is in that spirit that I write to you tonight, on the eve of the most important election in my lifetime and, possibly, in the life of our nation. I know that this storm has taken our focus away from the seedy world of politics and rightfully placed it back on those around us.

I watched the people of New Jersey take action during this crisis, first to sure up their own families and then to look around their neighborhood and ask, "What needs to be done?"

I've slowly come to realize that this storm - its approach, its impact and its aftermath - represents the reason I first became involved in the Tea Party movement. At it's heart, it's about people caring for people.

It also demonstrates why it is CRITICAL that, no matter what circumstances you find yourself in at this moment, you find your way to a voting booth and cast your vote for Mitt Romney, Joe Kyrillos, Anna Little or Eric Beck and the local candidates you feel best represent the values we share.

Look around. It has been the people, not the politicians, who have rallied together and supported each other. It's been the neighbor, not the federal government, who has offered a hot shower or a place to warm up and charge a cell phone. It's been the churches, not the White House, who have organized, collected and distributed warm clothing, flashlights and water to families who can't wait to process their FEMA paperwork. It's been the local towns and private charities that have stepped in and taken action, as Americans always do when there is need.

Our local candidates have led the way in selfless actions that might ultimately cost them the election. Anna Little has virtually suspended her campaign to lead relief efforts. Joe Kyrillos has turned campaign fundraisers into relief effort collection sites. They have put politics aside and done what other New Jerseyans have done, stepped up and helped others rather than themselves.

This is what will get us through the crisis in New Jersey and these are some of the leaders who will get us through the crisis that has paralyzed our nation. Their actions demonstrate their understanding that the dangers we face in Washington will never be resolved by more regulations, but by more opportunities and less obstacles erected by Big Government.

Ironically, it was Barack Obama, the dominant force behind the financial and social disaster America now faces, who said that, in order to deal with Sandy, we must "cut through bureaucracy and red tape." Inspiring words, if only that red tape and bureaucracy wasn’t of his own creation. If only he didn’t promise us even bigger government and less liberty if given another four years.

So, while I understand that you are fully engaged in caring for yourself, your loved ones and your community in this time of need, please be sure to remember that America too is in crisis. This may very well be the last chance we have to rescue our nation from a disaster of our own making.
