“The Gateway Family YMCA is excited to offer a course
that teaches cycling safety,” stated Paul Mickiewicz, Wellness Center Branch
Executive Director. Paul is an avid
cyclist himself, often riding to work and a League Certified Instructor through
the League of American Bicyclists. The class will include and indoor strategy
session, traffic law 101, ABC, Quick Check for your bike, parking lot drills to
establish basic handling skills, and a group road ride, stopping and learning
along the way. The class will culminate
with a ride on a shared use path in Black Brook Park. Although the class is not meant to be a
workout, it may be strenuous for some.
For members of the community who wish to join the
class, a properly fitted helmet and bicycle that is in good working order is
required. Participants are asked to
dress in bright colors and bring a water bottle. For more information, or questions on the
cycling class, please contact Paul Mickiewicz at pmickiewicz@tgfymca.org or 908-349-9622.
