Stuck Bridge in the Amboys May Cause Train Delays

An open bridge between South Amboy and Perth Amboy may affect rush hour traffic today.

A train bridge stuck open between Perth Amboy and South Amboy this afternoon has been repaired, officials said today.

The interlude when the bridge was open, though, may cause a delay in rush hour traffic on the Northeast Corridor line and the North Jersey Coast Line, where both cities are train stops on shore points to Bayhead.

"There may be some residual delays," NJ Transit spokesman John Durso.

Service was temporarily suspended while crews were making repairs to the bridge, Durso said. Two trains were affected, in Perth Amboy and South Amboy.

NJ Transit was prepared with buses to transport passengers between those two stations, he added.
