Five Cool (and Mostly Free) Things in Today's Five Things

Cool Jazz in Somerset, Free Movie in Woodbridge, and a Carnival in Winfield Park - how can you go wrong?

  1. Cool Jazz is happening tonight in Somerset. The, featuring trombonist and vocalist Emily Asher, plays at Sophie's Bistro on Hamilton St. from 8 pm to 11 pm. No cover charge. For more info, call 732-640-0001.
  2. Comedian Craig Shoemaker tonight and tomorrow night at 8 pm at the Stress Factory on Church St. in New Brunswick. Admission is $16. For more info, call 732-545-4242.
  3. In the mood for a carnival? Winfield Park, the little hamlet bordering Linden, is having its annual l from 7 to 11 pm tonight, and 5 to 10:30 pm Saturday. Rides, games, 50/50s, and even a beer tent are featured entertainment. The event is on the fair grounds locatedΒ on Stiles Street between Union County Parkway and Seafoam Avenue. Admission is free.
  4. "Curtains" continues tonight at the Hungarian American Club on Port Reading Ave. The is being performed by the Woodbridge Community Youth Players. The performance starts at 7:30 pm; tickets are $12 in advance at $15 at the door. For more info, call 732-602-8916.
