First Snow of the Season on Track for Saturday

Up to five inches of snow are expected starting early Saturday morning.

Winter will be on its way in with a respectable snowfall on Saturday.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a weather advisory for Middlesex County residents to expect a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain starting at 1 am on Saturday.

The winter blast is predicted to last a full 12 hours, ending in the early afternoon.

The NWS is estimating snowfall amounts in the 2 to 5 inch range, along with a blanket of ice. They expect the snow to begin, turning into sleet and freezing rain as temperatures rise. The weather event is expect to end the day as rain.

Motorists are cautioned to take care driving in the snow, especially with the sleet and ice mix in the forecast.

Saturday's temperatures are forecast to hit a high of 36 and a low of 25. Sunday should be sunny, with highs in the upper 30s.

Monday should be a banner day, weatherwise. The NWS is calling for rain, but temperatures are expected to rise the low 50s.
