PSE&G: Electric Service May Be Restored in Woodbridge by Wednesday

PSE&G is working on it, but some 6,600 township residents are still without power.

Electricity still out? If so, you're one of 6,600 residential customers in Woodbridge who are sharing the pain of the PSE&G power failure from Hurricane Irene.

"We're slowing restoring power," said Deann Muzikar, the utility's spokeswoman.

Muzikar said that 462,000 PSE&G customers throughout New Jeresy who lost electrical power have had the lights turned back off since Hurricane Irene began to hit the state on Saturday, Aug. 27.

About 205,000 statewide, including the 6,600 in Woodbridge, are still without electric service.

Power has been turned on to some Woodbridge residents in some areas of the township. Muzikar couldn't say exactly where.

The problem that remains, she said, is that some areas are still flooded. PSE&G crews will tend to the outages as water recedes in the flooded areas.

Muzikar said she's hoping that service will be restored to Woodbridge customers by Wednesday. "We hope to power back within 48 hours," she said.
