Eco-Art, a Bookfair, and How to Help Tommy Shevlin in Five Things

Lots on the threshold of the weekend to keep you entertained, and how you can help a sick man and his family.

  1. Tommy Shevlin, a family man with six children, is suffering from a rare brain tumor. Because of it, he can't work and he faces eviction. Friends and loved ones are holding for him tonight starting at 8 pm at the Knights of Columbus in Iselin. A suggested donation of $15 is requested. For more info, call Donna Lane at 732-535-1134.
  2. Rejuvenate: Recycled Materials as the New Medium, the being held at the Barron Arts Center, continues today. Gallery hours are Monday thru Friday 11 am to 4 pm, and weekends from 2 pm to 4 pm. The show runs through July 8 and features the works of artists Lisa Bagwell and Linda Rae Coughlin. For more info, call 732-634-0413.
  3. The Woodbridge School District continues its 2nd annual , to be held at the bookstore at the Menlo Park Mall from noon to 5:30 pm.  Woodbridge families and friends are invited to hear guest readers, enjoy student performances, mingle with teachers and administrators, shop for summer reading books, and have the opportunity to win raffles and prizes. The bookfair continues through June 20. 
  4. The Junebug Artfest in Metuchen at Borough Hall on Main St. from 6 to 10 pm.
