East Jersey Olde Towne Holds Holiday Fest

It's a great day trip, but it's even more special during the holidays.

If you've never been to East Jersey Olde Towne, you don't know what you're missing.

This architectural treasure, located in Piscataway, is a collection of colonial-era buildings and reproductions, brimming with the history of Central Jersey.

It's also a perfect spot for celebrating the holidays as our Founding Fathers did in the days of yore. This year, they'll be holding special seasonal activities this Sunday, December 9, from 1 pm to 4 pm.

The day's holiday schedule includes:

1 to 2 p.m. -- Stories and Flavors from Jewish Winters
Master Storyteller Rivka Willick returns with an all new mix of traditional and modern tales that span the globe. After the program, listeners are invited to taste some of the kosher treats mentioned in the winter tales. Learn about kosher laws, traditional foods and the spirit of the Jewish people in this delightful program.

2 to 3 p.m. -- Reception
Tour the village and enjoy refreshments.

2 to 3 p.m. -- Children’s Craft
Children will create two different crafts: foam gingerbread ornaments and a Snowman garland. Appropriate for children ages 5 to 9, accompanied by an adult.

3 to 4 p.m. -- Dickens Era Caroling Concert
The historical vocal quartet, Spiced Punch, will present 19th century holiday songs accompanied by guitar, concertina and whistles.

East Jersey Olde Towne is located at 1050 River Road and is operated by the Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission. To register for the events and for more information, call 732-745-3030.
