Christie Sending Reps to Help Hurricane Homeowners

Need help getting everything back together after Hurricane Sandy? Gov. Chris Christie is sending help today in the way of a mobile office and staff to help Middlesex County homeowners deal with property damage.

The Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI) will be setting up a mobile office today at the Sayreville Senior Center between 9 am and 5 pm to handle homeowners' questions, take complaints and assist with filing insurance claims.

The senior center is located at 423 Main Street in Sayreville. 

“New Jersey residents have suffered tremendous damages to their homes, their automobiles and other property from Hurricane Sandy and now as they begin to rebuild, they have questions related to their insurance,” said Acting Commissioner Ken Kobylowski in a statement. “Setting up these mobile offices gives us the opportunity to take information and assistance directly to people in their communities and give them all the help we can.”  

Members of the DOBI senior staff, a representative from the governor's office, and consumer representatives will be in Sayreville and at two other mobile offices in other counties. The staff will provide consumers with literature on such topics as property insurance, flood insurance and general information about filing insurance claims, as well as answer general questions and assistance.

Homeowners should bring their insurance policy and any claim information to the mobile office.
