Woodbridge Animal Shelter Desperate for Supply Donations

Woodbridge Animal Shelter flooded during Hurricane Sandy and much was destroyed. They are desperate for supply donations. Can you help?

The Woodbridge Animal Shelter is located at 195 Woodbridge Ave, Sewaren, NJ and needs community help.

The shelter houses dogs on the first floor and cats on the second floor.  The first floor was flooded with 5 feet of water.  Thankfully they were able to get the dogs to the second floor before the water got too high and have since relocated them to foster homes and vets offices until the first floor damage can be repaired.  The ACO’s had to be rescued by boat after bringing the dogs to safety.

The shelter lost all supplies as well as everything that was on the first floor including their records, the washer and dryer and other necessary items to run the shelter.  Much of the damaged items have already been carted away but there is still much more to clean up.  The community has brought needed supplies to the shelter that should help to get us through the weekend but we need much more to make it through next week.

Supplies can be dropped off from 8:30 AM to 3 PM.  There should be volunteers and staff at the shelter attending to the cats and also cleaning up the first floor and trying to get the shelter to a point where it can operate.  They still are rescuing animals and desperately need foster homes for the dogs.

Supplies that are sorely needed:

  • Cat litter
  • Dry cat and dog food
  • Canned cat food
  • New and gently used bath size towels and blankets
  • Paper towels
  • Non-latex one size fits all gloves
  • Contractor size garbage bags
  • Leashes
  • bleach

Monetary donations can be made here: https://www.facebook.com/WoodbridgeAnimalShelterAndPetAdoptionCenter/app_163344180379236

Checks can be made payable to the Woodbridge Animal Shelter Volunteers and sent to PO Box 555, Woodbridge, NJ 07095

Thank you for your help!

Are there still items you're desperately in need of?

Just dropped off a couple of bags of dog food and some pill pockets. Please let us know if there's stuff you still need. I wish I had enough to get you a new washer and dryer, I really do. Maybe you guys could have a chip-in with that particular goal? http://www.chipin.com/

Thanks Sara. Right now, we really need towels and blankets.
