Tons of Local Family Deals Are Within Your Fingertips This Week

There are a host of affordable events going on in Woodbridge and nearby neighborhoods this week that offer fun to singles and families alike.

On Thursday (2/17) the Forum Theater Arts Center is hosting its own U2 concert at 8 pm. The theater calls it, “the second best U2 show“ and at $16 a ticket, it’s also the most affordable way for anyone (including an entire family) to enjoy the timeless talent of U2. Their concert tickets generally run upwards of $200 for subpar seats.

Also on display at the Forum Theater this weekend is the film, “Another Year.” It chronicles one couple and explores the concept of (un)happiness as it relates to the pair and those around them. Movie tickets are $12. Forum Theater Arts Center is on 314 Main Street in Metuchen.

If you have little ones in your family, the Carteret Public Library screens a free children’s movie every third Friday of the month. And this Friday, February 18, happens to be just that. The movie runs from 3:30 to 5 pm, and light refreshments are provided during the film. Carteret Library is located on 100 Cooke Avenue.

This week ShopRite of Woodbridge is host to a soups and stews culinary class. As part of the “Culinary Workshop” series, this week focuses on “Sensational soups and satisfying stews.” The class runs through the 18th and costs $20 per person. Age appropriate children are also welcome to take part at a discounted price. For a course list, visit their website, or stop in at the ShopRite on St. Georges Ave.

The State Theater of NJ is hosting two renowned events this weekend. On Saturday at 8 pm there is a concert celebrating the 70th birthday of Beatles frontman, John Lennon. Adults and children 10 and up are welcome. The following afternoon at 3 pm, DrumLine live will perform a sensational routine. This is more family-friendly as children as young as 6 years old are invited to attend. The show is a fusion of a marching band, choir and dance troupe. For both events tickets are available for as little as $23 at the theater site.
