Spring Break Wound Down with a local Easter Parade Brings

The Woodbridge Community Center hosted an Easter Parade for families, complete with an Easter bunny, an egg hunt, and prizes.

This year's spectacular Easter Parade at the Woodbridge Community Center was another addition to the Easter celebrations and festivities sprinkled throughout the township. The parade had an even better-than-expected turn out, with hundreds of Woodbridge residents in attendance, mostly families celebrating their Easter holiday together, and teenagers enjoying their last day of spring break.

The festivities of the parade stretched from the inside of the Community Center to the outside. As a classic and favorite, an easter egg hunt was held on the second floor of the center. The hunt was intense and a little friendly competition couldn't hurt anyone, as some of the younger residents even climbed on top of the pool tables to find all of the hidden plastic eggs!

Daquan Regis, a student at Woodbridge High School, was at the parade with some of his friends savoring his last full day of spring break. Regis said, "This parade was really fun, and I'm glad I got to help out putting together the Easter baskets because I felt like I was a part of it."

Regis got the chance to help put together Easter baskets together for the attendees. About thirty Easter baskets were either raffled off or given out as prizes during the parade. The baskets, mostly kid-friendly, consisted of an array of markers, coloring books, crayons, pencils, notebooks, and plastic eggs filled with candy.

A favorite among the attendees included the Egg Race, in which two teams stood side by side as one member from each team held a spoon in his/her mouth, balancing a hard-boiled egg on the spoon. Each member's goal was to get to the designated area faster than the member of the rivaling team, without dropping the wobbly egg which was balanced on the spoon.

Along with the traditional classic games and surprises, such as the Easter egg hunt and an Easter bunny, there were even more exciting and unsuspecting surprises in store for attendees.

As a giant and beautifully decorated egg was brought to the center, attendees gazed in awe at the enormous size of the egg. No one knew exactly what was coming until a woman popped out of the egg and surprised everyone.

Mike Robinson, also a student at Woodbridge High School, was there with his family. He said, "my favorite part was when the girl popped out of the big Easter egg. That was really cool."
