WHS Probe Complete, More Personnel Action to be Taken, Attorney Says

The investigation has been completed into suspended WHS vice principal and supervisor of guidance/special education.

The investigation into suspended Woodbridge High School vice principal and supervisor of guidance and special education is complete with further personnel action to be taken, Board Attorney Jonathan Busch said.

“The investigation has been completed,” Busch said Friday.

Supervisor of Guidance and Special Education Brian Russo and Vice Principal Martin Scarano were suspended on June 13 pending an investigation, according to the personnel report distributed at that evening’s Board of Education meeting.

At Thursday evening’s Board of Education meeting, the board announced that Russo’s 12-month contract as supervisor of guidance and special education was terminated with cause, Busch said and that he would be demoted to a Special Education teacher at Iselin Middle School.

“Mr. Russo is entitled to his teaching position as a matter of law due to his tenure rights,” Busch said.

Busch stated that further personnel action would be taken in regards to others, but did not provide a date. No further details were provided as Busch said the board is unable to share personnel information publicly.
