Rahway Looking to House Artists

Got an opinion on housing for artists? Take the survey (see link below.)

Artists in the area may find a home in Rahway soon. That's because the city is charging the Actors Fund Housing Development Corporation (AFHDC) with gathering opinions of writers, painters, actors, dancers and other denizens of the arts with what they want and need in a housing community to enable them to live, grow, and practice their crafts.

Working artists, housing activists, and local leaders will be gathering in the Rahway Arts District at noon today to bring attention to the needs of the art community - and to a survey they want artists to take.

The event takes place at the newly constructed Hamilton Stage at 360 Hamilton Street in the city.

Joseph P. Benincasa, President and CEO of The Actors Fund and Scott Weiner, President and CEO of AFHDC, will be at the kickoff today, along with some of the many actors, artists and entertainers living and working in the region who would benefit from the availability of affordable housing.

Those who can't attend, but who still want to make their opinion known are invited to take the survey at this link.
