“Operantics” Performs to a Near Capacity Crowd in Metuchen

The local light opera group performed to audience delight at Centenary Methodist Church.

An unexpected October snowstorm may have cancelled their performance, but “Operantics” made a great comeback on Saturday evening, January 7, at Centenary Methodist Church. The benefit performance, which included selections from light opera, musical theatre, and a smidgen of grand opera, was accompanied on piano by Martin Neron and narrated by Steve Suznovich. The money raised went to the general fund of the church

Founders Janette Goleme and Amy Suznovich were thrilled about the wonderful turnout and the success of the show after having to cancel the October performance.  Besides the wonderful group of performers they had to work with, Goleme said they were very lucky to have the pleasure of singing and working with their newest partner in producing, Lester Gesteland.  Les - who sings at the church - the church congregants, and the pastor were instrumental in helping make the performance a success.

The group is planning another performance at the church in September, and has collaborations in the works with two other performing arts groups. Anyone interested in working with “Operantics” either behind the scenes or on stage can contact the group at operantics@gmail.com. Benefits for organizations can also be arranged by email or by calling 732-910-7424. Visit the group at their website.
