Hamilton Stage Opens in Rahway This Saturday

A new performing arts theatre is right next door from Woodbridge.


Rahway's new Hamilton Stage theatre is opening on Saturday, September 22, and a 12-year-old girl will be opening with the National Anthem.

Saje’da Cupido, who competed among contestants of all ages to be the first singer to perform at the new theater's official opening.  She will perform the National Anthem at the new site, located at 360 Hamilton Street in Rahway.

Saje’da, who resides with her family in Bloomfield, has been singing since the age of two and performing since the age of seven. Twice a year she sings for the National Federation of the Blind.  A panel of three judges from the Hello Hamilton staff selected Saje’da from other contestants for her unique style and impressive vocal ability.

Hello Hamilton! is the very first performance in Rahway’s new 199-seat theater, a project of the Union County Performing Arts, and will be hosted by Suzzanne Douglas and Chesney Snow.  Opening night festivities will include a special appearance by Broadway’s Liz Callaway and performances by the theater’s Artistic Affiliates: American Theater Group, American Repertory Ballet, Vital Theatre Company, StrangeDog Theatre Co., Ballets with a Twist and the Good Music Mostly Classical music series.  A post-performance cocktail party will follow for patrons to mingle with the artists and celebrate the newest performing arts facility in the region.

Tickets for the performance and party are $100; for the party only, they are $25 for guests 21 and over. All tickets can be purchased at the UC PAC box office at 1601 Irving Street, online at ucpac.org, or by calling the box office at 732-499-8226.
