Footloose Opens at Woodbridge Middle School Tonight

The Woodbridge Community Youth Players celebrate their fifth year with the famed movie-turned-musical.

Feeling a little sluggish in the summertime heat?  The Woodbridge Community Youth Players have a suggestion:  Lose your blues, everybody cut Footloose!
, the WCYP will put on performances of the famed movie-turned-musical every night this week at 7:30 PM, plus a matinee performance Sunday at 2:00 PM.  All performances will be held at The Theater at Woodbridge Middle School (525 Barron Avenue).  The Theater, it is worth mentioning, is newly air-conditioned.

The show stars Michael Korner as Rem McCormack, the teen who moves from Chicago to the  farm town of Bomont, where dancing is illegal.  The musical also stars Kiersten Morgan as Ariel Moore, daughter of Reverend Shaw Moore, who is portrayed by Peter Willoughby.  Mayor John McCormac makes a cameo as well.

Advance tickets for all performances are on sale at the Box Office (door 4 at the Middle School) from 5-7:15 before Wednesday-Saturday's performances, and 12:30-1:45 before Sunday's show.  Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door for each show.  Parking is available on Barron and Grove Avenues as well as the parking lots on Ross and Pearl Streets.

The Woodbridge Community Youth Players, who have staged performances of Charlie Brown, Grease, and Curtains in previous years, are celebrating their fifth anniversary.
