Five Things: the Art of Russia and Music on Main

Lectures, art, and music are on today's agenda.

  1. Learn about the Art of Russia at the tonight at 7:30 pm. The features Alfredo Franco of the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum in New Brunswick. The lecture will focus on 19th century Russian art and its relationship to 20th century Soviet nonconformist art. The event is free, but a $5 donation is suggested. Reservations are required.   2. Music on Main resumes tonight with its Fall offerings, starting with folk/rock performers Eric Andersen and Ian (Iian) Matthews. They at the on Main St. at 7:30 pm. Advance tickets are $25; at the door, $30. For more info, call 732-634-4500.
  3. Last day for free rabies shots (for your pet, that is.)Β  They're available to licensed cats and dogs in the township. . The will take place September 19 and September 21 from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Woodbridge Health Dept. next to the y. For more info, call 732-855-0600, extension 5003 or 5004.
  4. Time's running out for fresh produce. This is the penultimate week for the Woodbridge Farmer's Market at on Rahway Ave. Hours are 3 to 8:30 pm.
  5. Learn about sustainability and build a healthier community. The Citizens Campaign and Sustainable NJ are hosting aΒ  to assist citizens in improving the quality of life in their hometowns by improving the state’s environment. The Sustainability Toolkit workshop takes place tonight at the Alexander Library at Rutgers on College Ave. from 6 pm to 8:30 pm. Free parking is available at the College Ave. parking deck.
