Five Things: Grateful Dead Soundalikes, NJ in the Civil War

Entertainment and history, all in one Five Things day!

  1. Brush up on NJ's contribution to the Civil War. Macculloch Hall Historical Museum and the New Jersey Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee are collaborating to produce “." The exhibition, which runs from Nov. 6 through July 1, 2012, features a unique perspective on the Civil War, focusing on New Jersey soldiers and their stories. The two organizations are using their expertise and connections to private and institutional collections to bring together an unprecedented amount of memorabilia describing the experience of New Jersey and her soldiers in the Civil War. Tours are Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 1 pm to 4 pm. Admission is $6 for adults and $5 for seniors.   2. Get into yoga. The popular gentle yoga series returns to on Tuesday evenings as part of the center’s adult programs.  The yoga series, for adults 18 years and older continues through Nov. 29. Each session runs from 7:15 pm to 8:30 pm.The fee for Union County residents is $15 per class; out-of-county participants pay $20. Pre-registration is preferred. For more info, call 908-789-3670.
  3. See the Dark Star Orchestra at the State Theatre tonight at 8 pm. The Dark Star Orchestra (DSO) recreates historic with compelling accuracy. Tickets are $27 to $36. For more info, call 732-246-7469.
  4. Pix with Santa. It's being offered at during mall hours through Dec. 24. For more , visit the shopping center website.
  5. Get help with diabetes. Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway Fitness and Wellness Center offers a tonight from 7 to 8:30 pm in conference room number three. The event is free and no pre-registration is required. Walk-ins are welcome. For more info, call 732-499-6109.
