Woodbridge, New Jersey– Salsa musician Ray Rodriguez and his band Swing Sabroso will perform at Woodbridge’s Barron Arts Center as part of the Latin Fusion: Jersey Style Concert Series Thursday June 21, 2012 at 8pm. Concert will be held on the lawn of the historic Barron Arts Center located at 582 Rahway Avenue in Woodbridge, NJ. Concert admission is free, with a suggested donation of $5.00. Reservation NOT required. In case of rain, outdoor concerts will be held indoors and seating will be on a first-come, first-seated basis. Please call 732-634-0413 for more information.
Since it’s inception in 2000, Ray Rodriguez & Swing Sabroso have generated a growing number of loyal fans throughout the tri-state area and abroad. The group’s distinctive style (Salsa) is the result of the unique and extensive musical backgrounds of the band’s individual members, who have performed and recorded with some of the most recognizable names in Latin Music before joining together to integrate Swing Sabroso.
Ray was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, the birth place of Rafael Hernandez, Puerto Rico’s foremost composer, and raised in Brooklyn and New York City’s Spanish Harlem homegrounds to Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, Ray Barretto and many other salsa icons. He currently lives in North Brunswick, NJ.

He began his musical career at an early age and went on to study at the renowned Brooklyn Conservatory of Music where he majored in music theory, counterpoint, harmony and arranging. Subsequently, he continued studying at the Bronx Community College and with selected private teachers.
In 2005,Ray Rodriguez & Swing Sabroso recorded their debut CD appropriately entitled “Baila con Swing Sabroso”, which has been getting great reviews by specialized media and continues to be a favorite with many DJ’s and Dancers.

Ray Rodriguez & Swing Sabroso continue to perform with great reviews at such venues as Lincoln Center, NJPAC, S.O.B.s, LQ’s Philadelphia Salsa Congress, NYC Salsa Congress and at many festivals and clubs. They have also shared the stage with Grammy award winner Eddie Palmieri, Tito Puente, Conjunto Clasico, Oscar Deleon, El Gran Combo and many other International acts.

About the Latin Fusion: Jersey Style series
This concert is part of the Latin Fusion: Jersey Style series, an all encompassing arts series that celebrates Latin influences in New Jersey and how New Jersey in turn has influenced Latin culture. The series is sponsored by The Woodbridge Township Cultural Arts Commission with the support of Mayor John McCormac. Funding has been made possible in part by The Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission through a grant provided by The New Jersey State Council on the Arts / Department of State; a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
