Easter Egg Hunts and Tea with the Kids in Your Kid's Planner

The top five things to do with your kids this weekend!

It’s Grab & Go Kids Planner time!  Stuck for ideas to entertain the kids this weekend?  We’ve got you covered! 

This weekend we've got, among others, a good old-fashioned (in more ways than one!) tea party, a salute to the man behind the music of Star Wars and Indiana Jones, and the annual Woodbridge Easter Egg Hunt at Parker Press Park.

  • Easter Egg Hunt at ; 428 Rahway Ave., Woodbridge; 732-596-4047; Price: FREE (pre-registration required); Saturday, 9 AM.

The yearly Woodbridge Easter tradition returns to Parker Press Park this Saturday.  Get a picture with the Easter Bunny and hunt for Easter eggs with the kids.  If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the hunt will take place indoors at the Woodbridge Community Center (600 Main Street).  Don’t forget a camera!

  • Healthy Kids Day at the ; 600 Main St., Woodbridge; 732-596-4170; Saturday, 2-4 PM

The Woodbridge YMCA hosts Healthy Kids Day, a YMCA initiative to help families address issues of living healthy and staying active (and it’s pretty difficult to not be active at a YMCA).  Healthy Kids Day will involve programs that get the whole family up and physically moving, as well as programs to increase understanding and safety, and a summer camp open house.

  • Children’s Afternoon Tea & Fashion Show at Liberty Hall Museum; 1003 Morris Ave., Union; 908-527-0400; Price: $25 (pre-registration required);  Saturday, 1-3 PM

Play dress-up and tents, play games and win prizes, and check out a fashion show of historical children’s clothes at Liberty Hall’s Afternoon Tea & Fashion Show on Saturday.  Located across the street from the main campus of Kean University in Union, the Afternoon Tea & Fashion show will also feature a luncheon of scones, lemonade, finger sandwiches, and sweet treats.  Perfect for your 7-12 year old!

  • A Salute to John Williams at the State Theatre; 15 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick; 732-246-7469; Price - $20-$65; Sunday, 3 PM

Got a fan of Star Wars, Indiana Jones, or Jaws in the house?  Be sure to check out the State Theatre’s Salute to John Williams.  The two-hour show, co-presented by the theatre and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, will feature the classic, heart-pounding music of those films and more bought to life.  For an even deeper appreciation of the music, swing by the United Methodist Church on George St. at 2 PM for a free “Pre-performance Insight” session sponsored by the State Theatre.

Trailside Nature and Science Center, a gem of a place hidden in Mountainside, offers up it’s Wildlife Sunday, a day of presentations, vendors, displays, crafts, and nature walks, all intended to boost appreciation of wildlife.  In addition to the day’s activities, be sure to check out the permanent installations on the bugs, wildlife, flora and fauna of the Watchung Reservation and it’s surrounding areas.  An inexpensive, educational, and fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
