A Multicultural Dance Celebration Comes to Woodbridge
The Royal Albert's Palace hosted the third annual celebration, giving all attendees a glimpse of the town's diversity.
Royal Albert's Palace hosted an "Evening of Dance" showcasing the unique multicultural experiences found in Woodbridge. Dances included everything from the Hawaiian Hula to the Balinese Dance, and from Bellydancing to Bollywood style dancing.
Rohit Baxi, director of the Satrangi Fusion School of Dance praised his school and students. "We represented Bollywood in front of President Obama, performing 'Jai Ho' to an audience of 30,000 people," said Baxi. The school incorporates tradition Bollywood dancing with contemporary American styles of dance, such as hip-hop.
Jackie Gesumaria, who was going for the second time, exclaimed, "It's always really energetic and a lot of fun!"

Mary Karafa, a resident of Woodbridge, was attending the event for the third consecutive year. "It was very enjoyable, really a great way to spend an afternoon." Karafa came with her daughter and her daughter's friend.
The program and dance schools associated with the program offer everyone an enjoyable experience. Karafa's daughter enjoyed the program, she loves to dance and is currently taking dance lessons. "My daughter is autistic and has special needs. She liked the event and she especially loves the dancing after the show," she said.

At the end of the program, all audience members and program participants are called up to the dance floor to interact and dance with each other. The Cha Cha Slide was this year's favorite and had every almost audience member doing the slide. Priya S., from Iselin said, "I came because my friend was performing. I didn't know that it would be this much fun."
