Metuchen Bishop Seeks Opinions of Area Catholics in Diocesan Survey

Middlesex County Catholics may fill out the survey through December 16.

Diocese of Metuchen Bishop Rev. Paul G. Bootkoski has put out a request for Catholics in Middlesex, Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties to participate in an online survey discussing pastoral challenges faced by families in the diocese.

According to a press release from the Diocese of Metuchen, the survey is being conducted in advance of the Extraordinary Synod of Bishops to be held in Rome in 2014.

The survey consists of multiple-choice and open-ended questions discussing church teachings on family life, marriage and divorce, same-sex marriage and the sacraments, according to the release.

“I urge all those who have been baptized in the Catholic faith to participate in this survey as it is my desire to prepare and submit a summary to the Vatican that truly reflects the attitudes of the people in our diocese,” Bootkoski said, in a prepared statement. “It doesn’t matter if you go to Mass regularly or on occasion, if you’re actively involved in parish ministry or if you’ve fallen away from the Church. Please know that your voice matters and we want to hear from you."

The survey is open through December 16 and is available in English and Spanish. It can be found here
