Holy Redeemer Names Woodbridge Resident Laurie Cicero, RN, as Employee of the Year

Holy Redeemer Health System recently named Laurie Cicero, RN, as its Employee of the Year for going above and beyond the call of duty as the Supervisor of the Teaching Homemakers Program.

Based in the HomeCare-North office in Elizabeth, NJ, Cicero manages seven certified home health aides who provide services to families throughout Union County. Through Cicero’s guidance, the Teaching Homemakers staff has helped many families remain intact by providing guidance and instruction on parenting skills, home management and budgeting skills. Her team also links families with resources in the community.

When Cicero receives a referral for the Teaching Homemakers Program, she and her team are dedicated to admitting families into the program as soon as possible. Cicero even came into work on a day she was scheduled to go away on vacation in order to admit a family into the program.

For new referrals, Cicero makes the first home visit with the case worker and the assigned staff member. She identifies the family’s needs and works with the family to develop a plan of care. When Cicero follows-up with the families either via phone or in person, they often thank her for making their lives better.

In addition to counseling and guidance, Cicero and her team also secure gift donations that are provided to children around holidays and birthdays. Donations of food are also distributed to families in need.

Holy Redeemer’s Employee of the Year is chosen from the group of Employees of the Quarter throughout the health system. Not only does the award publicly acknowledge work that represents Holy Redeemer’s mission and values, but it also provides a week of paid vacation and a $300 monetary gift to the recipient.
