Yesterday I heard a very disturbing story. A 20 year old young woman told her parents she was a lesbian. Their response was to tell her she was no longer welcome in their house.
Every day in this country, people reject their children for being gay. They throw them out of the house, or try to convince them they are not actually gay, or their parents try to "make" them heterosexual or they cut them off completely. I wonder..why?
Nothing is more important than your children -- not your religion, not your prejudices, not your world viewpoint. Your children are more important than who they are attracted to and who you are attracted to. They are more important than politics and laws.
You may not like that your child is gay. It may make you uncomfortable. It may go against everything you believe. But embrace your children for who they are. If they are gay, they are already living in a world where not everyone wants to be around them. You are their safe place, no matter how old they are. Accept them, love them, and make them feel welcome.

Well said Judy. How sad that we have to be reminded to love our children unconditionally.

Most people that think they are gay, especially women, are just confused and have daddy issues.

bd, what if you had a lesbian daughter? Would you disown her or embrace her like Dick Cheney did his own daughter? Cheney did not reject his lesbian daughter, quite the opposite.

Dick Cheney is too busy duck hunting and running the trilateral commission to care. Plus his daughter is butch - probably just a gay man trapped in a womans body.

You can certainly believe that being gay is wrong. What bothers me is parents who throw their kids out, refuse to speak to their kids, reject their kids, because their children are gay. Is your religious belief or moral belief greater than your love for your child?

One look at your picture and you can tell what you are. Right or wrong, people stioll do have morals and values. The writer would like that no one does, but they are out there. Parents throw out kids all the time, so dont make it some sob story. It is their choice, right or wrong.
You are EXTREMELY WRONG when you say nothing is more important than your children. YES, religion IS! NOTHING is more important than your eternal soul fate. NOTHING! This world;d is just a flicker in time, family or not.
The writer fails to mention the responsibility given to a parent to raise a moral, good kid. They ARE HELD ACCOUNTABLE before God! So it is not just a matter of "throwing them out", as the faithless liberal writes. It is ABOUT THE PARENTS AND THE CHILD'S ETERNAL LIFE, WHICH IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYTHING, even if it upsets normalphobic liberals!

Nothing is more important than your eternal soul fate? What does your religion have to say about practicing love, compassion, kindness, tolerance, humility, and forgiveness? Your extreme comments and inability to rationalize are the reason wars and genocides have taken place.
