Local Woodbridge Band Hits the Big Time

Audio Insight - chosen to play at the Bamboozle music festival - will be featured on News12 this morning.

The hometown boys aren't letting us down. Audio Insight, the local Woodbridge-based band that has been climbing the ladder of success, is going to be one of the bands at the Bamboozle festival this week, May 18, 19, and 20. Now they're hitting the TV bigtime this morning. The band is going to be interview on News12 New Jersey this morning. Anchor Carissa Lawson is scheduled to have the band on during their morning program at approximately 7:45 am. This is the second year in a row that Audio Insight has taken the stage at the Bamboozle Festival. Senior Artists Showcase Their Work at Barron Arts Center

The show, now in its 33rd year, starts on May 16.

The best artwork from Woodbridge senior citizens will be in the spotlight this week.  The Woodbridge Township Annual Senior Citizen Art Show, now in its 33rd year, is slated to start at the Barron Arts Center on Wednesday, May 16, and running through Thursday, May 24. The exhibition ends with a closing reception and award ceremony on the 24th, from 5 pm to 7 pm. Light refreshments will be served. The competition was open to any township resident 60 years of age or older. Participants were encouraged to submit up to two pieces each for the show in the following mediums: oil; acrylic; watercolor; pastel; printmaking; drawings including pencil, pen & ink, chalk and charcoal; mixed media, including collage; photography, and sculpture. LAST CHANCE: Ari Hest Concert at Music on Main

Ari Hest is nothing if not productive. The singer-songwriter released a debut album on Columbia Records in 2007, but a year later, he wanted more creative control over his music, so he branched out onto Youtube. Hest launched what he called the 52 project, a series of songs, one written, recorded, and released every Monday, for an entire year. Fans voted for their favorites, and in 2009, Hest released an album of the winning fan favorites.  He's developed quite a following since. Theatre Specially for Autistic Children

'Sensory Friendly Theatre' is a delightful experience, guaranteed to entertain and soothe austistic children and their parents

Autistic children and their parents are in for a unique treat in Rahway. The Union County Performing Arts Center will be holding 'Sensory Friendly Theatre', a series of live performances specially designed and adapted for children with autism and related disabilities.  The series kicks off on Sunday, June 10, at 2 pm with 'Tom Chapin & Friends,' the singer/songwriter and three-time Grammy winning artist, who specializes in entrancing children and adults with sophisticated original music. Learn About NJ's Lenape Indian Heritage

An expert on Lenape culture will put on a great display at an event sponsored by the Middlesex County Cultural & Heritage Commission today.

The original settlers of New Jersey - way before the European invasion - were the Lenape Indians. Learn about Lenape culture today through games and stories at a Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission event. Beverly A. Friend, an Indian of Cherkoee descent, will put her quarter century of studying and lecturing on Native American Indian Culture, History and Folklore to good use. Gypsy Jazz Guitarist Plays at Music on Main April 26

Tickets are still available to hear famed guitarist Stephane Wrembel tomorrow night at Woodbridge's Barron Arts Center.

Music on Main will be presenting Stephane Wrembel, a guitarist who made his fame on gypsy and jazz music, tomorrow night at the Barron Arts Center at 7:30 pm.  Wrembel comes to Woodbridge with the strongest of endorsements. He was recruited by Woody Allen to compose music for the Academy Award wining film, "Midnight in Paris", and he performed at the 2012 Academy Awards telecast.  The French-born guitarist who now calls Brooklyn his home has recorded five albums, and those are only a few of his accomplishments. Tickets are still available to hear Wrembel, who appears tomorrow night as part of the Music on Main concert series. Tickets are $22 in advance and $25 at the door, and can be purchased at the WoodbridgeArts site.

Woodbridge Band Audio Insight to Join Bon Jovi & More at Bamboozle

For the second consecutive year, Woodbridge rockers Audio Insight have played their way onto the lineup for The Bamboozle, the annual three-day music festival taking place May 18, 19, & 20th. The Bamboozle, which is celebrating it's 10th anniversary this year, is heading back to the beach for the first time since 2005 - Asbury Park's North Beach, to be specific.  Foo Fighters, blink-182, Skrillex, Incubus, Brand New, and New Jersey rock legends Bon Jovi headline the festival.  The festival will feature numerous stages for music and entertainment, including the biggest beach stage ever built in the United States. Worst pop culture geography reveal ever?  Since The Simpsons started airing, the state hosting its dysfunctional hamlet Springfield has been both a mystery and a running joke. After decades of hints and misinformation, the mystery and hilarity of the Simpson’s Springfield crescendo-ed in a quick visual gag in The Simpsons Movie showing the four states that border Springfield: Ohio, Nevada, Maine and Kentucky. That joke came on the heels of a national promotional contest in 2007 where towns named Springfield from across America competed in a chance to be declared the Simpsons’ hometown.
