Take a Walk 'In Her Shoes' To Fight Domestic Violence
A Thursday walk in high heels to help fight women entrapped in domestic violence takes place at the Shannon Rose to help "In Her Shoes DIVA."
There is strength in numbers, and in high heels.
Women in Woodbridge are being encouraged to strike a blow against domestic violence this by signing up for the 2nd Annual High Heel Walk for Domestic Violence Awareness. Sponsored by LadiesLunchNJ, the walk takes place on Thursday, Feb. 9, starting at the Shannon Rose Irish Pub on St. George Ave.
The walk itself takes place at 8 pm, with check in beginning at 6 pm. The price of admission is $10 and strutting in a pair of high heeled shoes to participate in the walk, which takes place outdoors. Dress warmly to join the walk.
According to the group, the "Her" of In Her Shoes is the woman who has no voice, who has been mistreated, either verbally and physical abused, or both. It also includes women who have died at the hands of their abuser.
Shannon Rose will be running a drink special during the evening, with $1 from the price of the select drink of the night being donated to In Her Shoes DIVA.
Part of the proceeds from the walk will benefit In Her Shoes DIVA, a non-profit organization devoted to fighting domestic violence. All the money raised will go towards education, training, support, and resources for families and individuals throughout New Jersey facing domestic violence issues.
