Route 9 Improvement Work Closes One Lane in Woodbridge

Motorists should be prepared for traffic changes.

Drainage improvement work to be performed on Route 9 is requiring the closure of one lane on the northbound ramp connecting to Route 440 southbound and Route 287 northbound in Woodbridge for up to one month, the NJ Dept. of Transportation (NJDOT) announced.  If the work is completed earlier, the lane will be reopened more quickly.

This is a three lane ramp that connects motorists to Route 440 southbound, Route 287 northbound and Raritan Center.  At the end of the ramp, two lanes split off to Route 440 and I-287 and one lane goes to Raritan Center.

Beginning on or about Monday, February 6, NJDOT will close the left lane of the two lane portion of the ramp to Route 440 and I-287 for approximately 1000 feet to allow NJDOT’s contractors, Total Center Maintenance and National Water Main, to perform necessary drainage pipe clearing and repair work.  The right lane will be maintained during construction.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors, NJDOT said in a statement.  Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
