'Paint the Mall Pink' at Menlo Park This Month

And lend a hand in the fight to end breast cancer.


Paint the Mall Pink
, a community-based, grassroots program featuring educational displays, health fairs, retailer offerings, special events and other activities, is being held at Menlo Park Mall this month in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Paint the Mall Pink is our way of addressing this very important health issue that affects so many women and families,” said Suzy Lichter, area director of marketing and business development for Menlo Park Mall. “We will offer a variety of ‘pink-themed’ activities during the month that stress the importance of early detection and help spread the word about comprehensive services available in our community.”

Activities and events planned for Paint the Mall Pink at Menlo Park Mall include the following:

  • Paint the Mall Pink Kick-off – Saturday, October 6.Month-long mall-wide programming begins at 11 a.m. in Center Court, where representatives from the American Cancer Society and the Breast Center at JFK Medical Center will have tables set up to share important information with shoppers about breast cancer and other health-related issues. Shoppers can register to win a pink basket filled with goodies from the Menlo Park Mall Sephora store; the first 200 to register will receive a pair of pink ribbon socks. Entertainment begins at 12:30 p.m. with the Magic 98.3 Cares Acoustic Concert, featuring Joe Argese.
  • Sephora’s Blush for a Cause with Laura Mercier – October 6. With a minimum purchase of $50 in Laura Mercier cosmetics from the mall’s Sephora store, visitors will receive a customized makeover by Laura Mercier makeup artists and a keepsake photo. Those interested should call Sephora (732-635-0023, ext. 3) in advance to reserve their spot. The Sephora event takes place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Center Court.
  • Tree of Hope – Throughout October.  Visitors may write messages on complimentary pink tags in memory of family members, friends and loved ones affected by breast cancer and place the tags on the Tree of Hope, located in Center Court by Simon Guest Services. Each tag represents a person, a prayer, a story and, most of all, the unending hope for a cure.
  • Gift with Purchase – Throughout October. Shoppers who purchase two American Express® Simon Giftcards® in any amount during the month will receive a free pink crystal bracelet, while supplies last, in support of breast cancer awareness. Limit one free gift per customer per visit. Details are available at Simon Guest Services.
