More Rain Brings Flood Watch to the Area

The National Weather Service is advising not to get rid of the galoshes, or the water pump, just yet.

We might be in for rain. A lot more rain in the next few days.

After a thorough drenching by Hurricane Irene last week that brought floods and electrical outages to Woodbridge, the National Weather Service has advised that the local area is under a flood watch from this afternoon through Wednesday evening.

A flood watch means we can expect 2 to 4 inches of rain within the next 48 hours, with some areas of Middlesex County getting soaked with as much as 6 inches of rain by noon Wednesday.

The new rainwater on ground still saturated from last week's storms and floods means we can expect a new round of basement, small stream, and street flooding, the National Weather Service advised.

The weather forecast for the next few days has certain storms through Wednesday, with a 50 percent possibility the rain will continue through Thursday.

This weather advisory will be updated as new information is received.

Part 1
Let's hope Woodbridge does not get a repeat of:
Irene, Mac and Town Council Members.

The flooded areas mentioned and shown on youtube, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuubzu9lQEw, are actually in very long serving 1st. Ward Councilman Charley Kenny’s ward, yet the newest member of the town council, Councilman-at-Large, Kyle Anderson, was somehow compelled to speak about the suffering of 1st. Ward residents. Perhaps, as a long-term councilman and fire department captain, Mr. Kenny didn’t want to make the same acknowledgment that Councilman Anderson did, that being: the tragedy that befell the residents in the first ward were, “a disaster waiting to happen” !

hat about the 3rd. Ward? Weren’t many residents there victims of Irene wind and rain? So why no comments from 3rd. Ward Councilwoman Charmello? Please remember, Ms. Charmello, moved to Avenel in July 2002, thus leaving her strong (O’Leary/Coughlin) roots behind her in So. Amboy. At her swearing in October 2010, (eight years after moving to Avenel) she stated: “she still needs to be {caught up to speed} before letting residents in the 3rd Ward knowing where she stands on the Avenel-Colonia First Aid Squad issue. See: http://woodbridge.injersey.com/2010/10/20/michele-charmello-of-avenel-is-new-3rd-ward-councilwoman/
Apparently, she was not any better prepared to talk about the C&S warehousing in February 2011. Neither was Council President J. Carroll. See: http://woodbridge.injersey.com/2011/02/03/c-s-wholesale-grocers-closing/ and the comments that follow the article.

Perhaps, as Ms. Charmello stated to the Star-ledger on October 20, 2010, “I’ve always been involved in music, so that’s been my passion…” She plays the piano and flute, and also sings. See: http://www.nj.com/news/local/index.ssf/2010/10/woodbridge_named_new_councilme.html )for further details.
Perhaps, Ms. Charmello and the other Council members, who have not been heard from or have had little to say, were all rehearsing with john McCormac for Tuesday night’s concerned. That’s the concert which was so important, it took center stage, top billing on the township’s website; before someone questioned the re-scheduled concert’s importance over other Emergency Notifications.
