Medieval Fair and a Folk Rocker Entertains in Today's Five Things

Lots to keep you busy this Thursday.

 
  1. Don't miss the Medieval Fair! It's different and unusual, and it's being held today at the YMCA at the Woodbridge Community Center. The event, sponsored by Northfield Bank, features pony rides, a magic show and crafts, among other activities. YMCA members and summer campers are eligible to attend.   2. Folk Rock artist Carmen Sciafani and his band Wiser Time performs tonight at the Barron Arts Center at 8 pm. The concert, part of the Exit 11: NJ Arts Interactive Concert Series, is held outdoors so bring your own lawn chair. In the event of rain, it'll be moved inside, where seating is limited. Admission is free, with a suggest donation of $5.
  3. Today is sign up day for Fall Soccer Registration. The Woodbridge Youth Soccer league is accepting registrations today for boys and girls fromm ages 3 to 16. Registration takes place at 479 Port Reading Ave. in Port Reading from 6 pm to 8 pm. For more info, call 732-634-9219 or email recreation@woodbridgeyouthsoccer.com
  4. Shop for a good cause. Now through July 21, shop at any Modell's Sporting Goods store and save 15 percent on your purchase; 5 percent will be donated to the YMCA Fund for Tomorrow, a fundraiser that helps needy families in Woodbridge participate in YMCA programs at little to no cost. Print a coupon online, get one from the YMCA in Woodbridge at the Woodbridge Community Center, or just mention the discount to the store clerk. For more info, call 732-726-0493.
  5. Time for Summer Teen Reading. The Woodbridge Library's program to get kids into books, "You Are Here," continues. Participants can win raffle prizes as well. The program spans the library's three branches. For more info, call 732-634-4450, ext. 7120.

    The Downtown Cruise is actually next Wednesday (July 20). The car shows are ALWAYS on the third Wednesday of June, July, and August. Hope to see you there!
