Local Health Club Shows Its Gratitude to Military Families
The Club at Woodbridge is giving a free membership to the immediate families of any currently deployed Reservist or National Guard member.
Being the family of an actively deployed US Reservist or National Guard Member can be difficult. The Club at Woodbridge is looking to do their part to make it a little easier.
The health club, located on upper Main St. across from the Woodbridge Community Center, is currently offering free memberships to the immediate families of the actively deployed. Anyone who is a family member of a deployed Reservist or National Guard Member ages 13 and up is welcome to take advantage of the offer.
"They have full membership," said Deb Zirpolo, general manager of The Club at Woodbridge. "Just like anyone else." A full membership includes access to the Club's fitness center, fitness coaches, group exercise classes, pool, racquetball and basketball courts. Free child care is also offered while the parents is working out.
In order to take advantage of the offer, those who are eligible for the free membership must present a Guard or Reserve Dependant ID card and military orders specifying that a family member is currently deployed.
The program kicked off last week, said Zirpolo, and they are waiting for people to take advantage of the offer.
"We're just starting to get the word out," said Zirpolo, who noted that the Club intends to reach out to the American Legion T. Nulty Post 471 in Iselin to spread the word to military families. "We'd like to see the families take advantage of this," said Zirpolo. Her husband, Ray, is the owner of the Club and served in the Air Force.
The Club, which currently boasts around 3,000 members, also offers free two-month memberships to all active duty military members who are on leave. This program has been offered for ten years, says Zirpolo, and has seen a good response.
