Clark Det. George Marmarou was out on patrol when he saw a familiar maroon pickup truck drive by him and thought, "That's the guy."

Marmarou recognized the truck from Clark restaurant Bistro 1051's surveillance tapes: The doughy thief has twice been caught on camera lifting loaves from the restaurant's morning bread delivery.

After first striking in February, the man was  caught on film again just weeks ago.

"The detective was just out on patrol and saw a vehicle pass him that fit the description," Clark Police Captain Alan Scherb told Patch. "He made a car stop and in the course of his investigation, the individual confessed."

Scherb says the man is Gary Miller, 52, of the Iselin section of Woodbridge.

"He cooperated, was brought in, charged with two counts of theft and issued a summons to appear in municipal court," says Scherb.

As to Miller's motive? "Nothing really," says Scherb. "Just that it was there."

Bistro 1051 owner Michael Savvis is grateful to Clark PD for restoring the safety of his baguettes and buns.

"I’m relieved," Savvis told Patch. "Hopefully I don’t have to worry about this happening again."
