How to Make a Claim Against 6th Ave. Electronics

Do you have a warranty with 6th Ave. Electronics and you can't get any satisfaction? Here's what to do.

 

Ever since 6th Ave. Electronics stores were shuttered last October, many buyers of expensive TVs and other devices who bought extended warranties have been left out in the dark.

No one answers any of the telephones at the chain's headquarters since they were forced into default by a bankruptcy court for non-payment of $5.8 million in debt.

The bankruptcy court named McCarter & English, a Newark law firm, to handle claims of creditors. They include General Electric, to whom 6th Ave. owed millions, and customers who bought extended warranties for which they can't get any satisfaction.

So if you purchased an extended warranty, or you bought electronics that conked out, you have the right to make a claim.

The claim form is attached to this article as a pdf file - just click on the pdf link above (near the pictures for the story.) Download it, print it out and fill it out, and snail mail it to McCarter & English (the address is on the form.)

Just be aware that the form must be returned by January 25, which is 90 days from the date of the court paperwork.
