Duct Tape Thief on Foot Tries to Rob an Iselin KFC

When a bandana over your face just isn't good enough....

A thief walked up to an Iselin Kentucky Fried Chicken drive-up window and tried to rob the fast food worker behind the window approximately 9:30 pm Sunday night.

He was described as a white male, between 20 and 25 years old, between 5 ft. 8 and 5 ft. 10 with a thin build. The robber was dressed in a dark hoodie, with a bandana on his head and one covering his lower face.

The two bandanas, apparently, weren't enough of a disguise for the thief. The KFC employees also noted he had "something silver" on his nose and cheeks which they thought might've been duct tape.

The KFC worker was helping a customer in a car at the drive-up window at the KFC on Route 1 South near the Renaissance Woodbridge hotel when the robber got between the vehicle and window, reached into his waistband, and said, "Give me what's in the register."

The employee didn't see a gun, but slammed the register draw shut, ran to the front of the store, and got on the ground. Β Another employee in the manager's office heard the threat and called police.

Witnesses in the fast food restaurant saw the customer in the car drive off, and the thief fleeing on foot toward the hotel parking lot and the Woodbridge Commons apartments where they lost sight of him. Multiple police units responded and searched the area, but couldn't find the culprit.

Police ask that anyone with information call Det. Davis at 732-634-7700.
