American Muslims of New Jersey Hosting Iftar Party Tonight
Head down to the Edison Hotel and celebrate the breaking of the daily Ramadan fast.
As the Muslim holy month of Ramadan winds down, the American Muslims of New Jersey are hosting a party with the intention of both bringing Muslims in the Central Jersey area together and extending a message of peace.
The Grand Iftar Party will be held tonight at 6:30 at the Edison Hotel in Raritan Center at 3050 Woodbridge Avenue. Guests will include Senator Sam Thompson, Assemblyman Upendra Chivucula, and Edison Mayor Antonia Ricigliano.
“By sharing our culture and heritage, we hope to obliterate the stereotypes of Islam and its followers and show that we would like to live side by side with other communities in harmony, peace, and love, which are the true teachings of Islam,” notes a press release for the event.
The Grand Iftar Party – Iftar being the evening meal in which Muslims break their fast during the daylight hours of Ramadan – is being held to extend a message of peace to other faiths, with the help of clergies and individuals from a variety of religions, according to the release.
